Oster Versa 1400 Blender Review: Is the price worth?

The Oster machines have a good reputation for outstanding quality at quite reasonable prices. Most of the Oster blenders I see when window shopping at the mall is under $200, but when I first bumped into this professional Oster Versa 1400 blender, its fairly expensive price really surprised me.

In fact, the Oster Versa 1400 is a type of industrial blender ranging around $250, which is only at half-lower than high-end brands like Blendtec and Vitamix.

Okay, not everyone can afford that much money on a blender, but there are many reasons for this Oster model to be priced like that. One of those is that it comes with a 7-year warranty, which is the same as a Vitamix product offers.

Even so, the biggest caveat here is this machine is made in China as opposed to Vitamix made in the US. However, if the country of origin seems not an issue to you, then it’s probably one of the best bargains out there for you.

What To Expect From The Oster Versa 1400 Blender?

The Base

Oster really does design quite carefully about the base of this machine. It has a beautiful, sturdy stand that attaches firmly to the flat surface, ensuring no vibration during operation. Moreover, the controls are clearly-arranged, making it easy for you to recognize each function to use.

What To Expect From The Oster Versa 1400 Blender?

The Versa 1400 blender also features a quick-connection top letting you place the jar securely on the base without twisting or forcing it into place. Besides, the connection between the jar and the base is metal, ensuring the durability of the blender.

Capacity

You can still make a decent amount of smoothie – 64 ounces to be exact, for 3 or 4 people. Another difference from this grinder is that it allows you to crush the ice without adding water.

Low-profile Container

The low-profile container is easier to store than a larger jar. Still, if you prefer a smaller but taller vase, Oster also has this option. In fact, Oster Versa offers two blender models with different container options; one comes with a shorter jar, while the other’s is narrower but longer.

They all have the same capacity of 64 oz and are toxic BPA-free Tristan plastic, including a no-mess spout.

Low-profile Container of the oster versa blender

Both jars’ lids come with an ingredients cup and a tamper to push around the ingredients whilst blending when needed. Also, the blender has a sensor to indicate that the jar is sitting in place. If not, the unit will not work.

One thing makes me confused when using this appliance is that their measurements on the container are not clear enough to figure out.

Motor

You will see a rotary control that allows you to adjust the manual speed of the blade from medium to high. And it also comes with a Pulse option in case you want to cut vegetables.

Motor of oster versa blender

The Oster Versa comes with a powerful motor of 1400 watts – the same power as some of the Vitamix models, the 28000 RPM, and the horsepower is 1.7. Moreover, the motor has an overheating sensor, which will automatically switch off if you run the appliance for too long.

Versatility

As its name indicates, (“Versa” is in “Versatility”) it is a versatile countertop high-powered blender that can replace some of your kitchen appliances. Actually, in addition to mixing pizza dough, this Oster model can blend quite a lot of fruit, peanuts or vegetables.

Combining a powerful engine and a 4-blade system, this machine is capable of making frozen desserts, smoothies, protein shakes, coffee, crushed ice, hot soups, almond butter and even almond milk.

However, do not mistakenly consider it as a food processor to slice or dice vegetables. And especially when it comes to soup, you can just blend the well-cooked soup, because the device does not include the boiling feature.

Ease of use and cleaning

Like all basic grinders, this one is extremely easy to use and cleaning.

The three handy settings help users easily create their favorite menu items. By simply touching a button, the blender will automatically start – run with the perfect speed – stop until achieving the desired results.

In addition to the three programmed settings neatly arranged and easy-to-see on the base, the blender provides a Pulse button for exceptional control over the consistency, as well as a knob to instantly adjust the various speeds as needed.

For better washing, just fill the jar with water until it’s half full, and add a few drops of soap, then run the blend for 30 seconds. Finally, rinse thoroughly. That’s it!

The only problem I see here is when you do something oily like butter, it may be necessary to use a sponge or a brush to scrub this thing thoroughly to get rid of the oil residue. Oster didn’t specify if this was dishwasher safe but it shouldn’t be a big deal, you’d better wash it by your hands.

Consumers’ Reviews for Oster Versa 1400 Blender

In terms of performance, buyers love how this product works, and there’s even a detailed review of how the Versa and Vitamix 5200 differ. While they both have the same capacity on paper, the Vitamix’s motor base is significantly heavier than the Versa.

This is a big reason why Vitamix is capable of mixing powders and is quite consistent in fineness.

The Oster Versa 1400’s vase easily breaks?

Vitamix’s jar is thicker and barely breaks, while Oster is quite slim and breakable if you drop it on the ground. That’s the reason why Vitamix is half more expensive than Oster. Nevertheless, if you don’t mind those limitations, this unit is still a huge bargain in terms of performance and versatility.

There are other potential problems you may encounter. One issue possibly happening is that overheating the engine since Versa doesn’t have as much torque as the Vitamix. However, with an insecure feature, you can rest assured that this little machine will automatically shut down the engine if you run too long.

Another matter is that the tamper length can also cause some problems. If you push it too far, it can stab the blade and scrap plastic on your smoothie.

Most consumers think that this blender is a great option for families of 3 or 4 members thanks to its large 64-ounce jar capable of making lots of homemade smoothies and desserts.

The best part of this blender is the price. If you buy this from Amazon, it can be quite a bargain. Moreover, even with that price, it still comes with a seven-year warranty, so you can be sure that Oster really does guarantee their product.

In general, Versa is such a good blender with the same capacity and warranty as Vitamix but for a cheaper cost.

Verdict for Oster Versa 1400 Blender

Overall, With the power up to 1400W and strong 4 stainless steel blades, the Oster Versa is rated as a blender line that can process all fruits and vegetables into a perfectly smooth paste with just one touch.

Therefore, it is especially suitable for those looking for versatility in a powerful blender. What I love most about this Oster Versa blender is its automatic shut-off mode. The mode will be active in case the engine becomes too hot, and after 45 minutes, the machine can be used normally.

In addition, the package also includes a toxic BPA-free Tritan plastic jar, which is large enough for making a smoothie for 4 people at a time. So convenient, right?

One small downside is that due to its large capacity, Oster is relatively noisy when the engine is working, and this product does not come with an anti-noise box. However, compared to other well-known performance blenders, this Oster model is at a fraction of the price.

So, to end this Oster Versa 1400 review, I can say that besides some minor defects, Versa basically wins my heart after all. How about the other devoted cooks’? You bet!
