Cutting an onion into wedges

Wedges are ideal for cooking with as they hold their shape and can be easy to control. Plus, when you cut an onion into wedges, it naturally releases its juices, which helps to caramelize the onion as it cooks. To cut an onion into wedges, first cut off one end of the onion and peel it. Cut the onion in half from the root end to the other end. Cut each half of the onion in half. Finally, cut each quarter of the onion in half. You should now have 8 wedges.

Peel the onion

Use a paring knife to peel off the skin of the onion. Start at the top of the onion, where the stem was attached, and peel downwards. Remove as much of the papery skin as possible. If any of the leaves of the onion are still attached, cut them off as well.

Cut off the root end

The first step to cutting an onion into wedges is to cut off the root end. Cut about 1/2 inch or so from the root end, being careful not to cut too much off or else your wedges will start falling apart.

Next, cut the onion in half from the root end to the top. Once your onion is halved, peel off the outer layer of skin.

Now it’s time to start cutting your wedges. Start by making a lengthwise cut down the center of each half of the onion. Then, make 2-3 horizontal cuts perpendicular to your lengthwise cuts, being sure not to cut all the way through the onion (you want your wedges to stay intact). Finally, makelengthwise cuts in between your horizontal cuts to create wedges.

Cut off the stem

To start, cut off the onion’s stem. Turn the onion so the flat end is facing down on the cutting board then slice 1/2 inch from the top of the onion. (You don’t need to be too precise here; just make sure you cut off the root end and the very top of the onion.)

Slice the onion in half from the root end to the top

Before you start cutting, it’s important to have a sharp knife A dull knife will not only make the process take longer, but it can also be dangerous.

To cut an onion into wedges, start by slicing the onion in half from the root end to the top. If you’re leaving the root attached, make sure to slice it off so that the wedges will be easy to remove later. Next, peel off the skin and discard it.

Now it’s time to start cutting the onion into wedges. Slice it in half again from top to bottom and then slice each half into 3 or 4 wedges. The exact number of wedges will depend on the size of your onion.

Once all of the wedges are cut, remove the root end and any tough outer layers. You can now use your onion wedges in any recipe that calls for them!

Slice each half onion in half

Place an onion horizontally on the cutting board so that the two ends of the onion are facing out. Slice the onion in half, so that you are left with two semi-circle shaped pieces.

Next, take each half onion and slice it in half. You should now have four semi-circle shaped pieces of onion.

Slice each quarter onion in half

Place an onion horizontally on the cutting board so that the two small ends of the onion are facing out. Slice 1/2-inch from stem end, and barely slice the root end. Turn the onion so it can stand on an end that has been cut before cutting the onion in half from top to bottom.

With the flat end of the onion down, make lengthwise cuts, angling them towards the center of the onion, making sure not to cut into the root end. Make as many lengthwise cuts as desired, depending on how big or small you want your wedges to be.

Finally, make crosswise cuts angling them towards the root end of the onion, being careful not to cut into the root. If necessary, hold the onion together while making these cuts.

Slice each eighth onion in half

1. Start with a peeled onion and cut off one end, then the other. Cut the onion in half from the root end to the top.
2. Slice each half of the onion in half, then slice each quarter in half. You should now have eight equal wedges.
3. To finish, cut off the root end of each wedge and discard it.

Cutting an onion into thin strips

Peel the onion

To peel an onion, cut off the root end and the top of the onion, then remove the skin. You can do this with a knife or with your fingers. Once the onion is peeled, cut it in half from the root end to the top. Cut each half of the onion in half, then slice each quarter of the onion into thin strips.

Cut off the root end

Before you cut an onion, it’s important to prep it properly. Start by cutting off the root end with a sharp knife Then, cut off the top of the onion, about 1/2-inch from the top. Peel off the skin of the onion, being careful to remove any brown layers. Once the onion is peeled, cut it in half from the root end to the top. Finally, cut each half of the onion in half. Now you’re ready to start cutting your onions into wedges!

Cut off the stem

Cut off the top of the onion, about ½ inch from the onion’s head. Cut off just enough to get rid of the fibrous root end, but don’t cut too close or you’ll end up losing too much of the onion.

Next, cut the onion in half leaving the root end intact. Peel off the skin, discarding any brown layers until you’re left with two white onion halves.

##Position your onion half so that the flat end is facing downwards on your cutting board. Slice 1-inch strips vertically downwards and then make horizontal cuts across those strips to create small wedges. Finally, cut off the root end and discard it.

Slice the onion in half from the root end to the top

place one half of the onion horizontally on your cutting board, with the root end facing to the left and the top (cut) end facing to the right. Use your knife to slice the onion in half from the root end to the top, making sure not to cut into your cutting board.

Next, peel off the skin of each half of the onion. To do this, make a small cut into the root end of each half onion, and then peel the skin away from the onion, working your way from the root end to the top.

Once both halves of the onion are peeled, slice each half of the onion in half from top to bottom. Again, be sure not to cut into your cutting board.

Next, slice each quarter of the onion in half from top to bottom. At this point, you should have eight equal wedges of onion.

Finally, use your knife to thinly slice each wedge of onion into thin strips. Once all wedges have been sliced, you should have a pile of thin strips of onions that are ready to be used in any recipe!

Slice each half onion in half

Start by slicing each half onion in half, then peel off the skin. Next, slice each quarter onion in half, then slice each of those halves in half. Finally, cut each of the eight pieces of onion in half again so that you have 16 thin strips.

Slice each quarter onion in half

Start by peeling off the skin of the onion. Cut off one end of the onion and then cut the onion in half so that the uncut end from before is divided in two. Cut each half of the onion in half. You should now have four quarters of an onion.

Slice each quarter onion in half. To do this, cut off the uncut end of the quarter onion and then make 1-3 horizontal cuts into the round part of the onion so that it resembles a flower or a star. These horizontal cuts should not go all the way through the onion–stop slicing when you are about halfway through. Finally, make vertical cuts downwards into each petal of the “flower” or each point of the “star.” Again, do not slice all the way through–the goal is to create thin strips of onions that are still attached at the base.

Slice each eighth onion in half

To cut an onion into wedges, first remove the root end and the top of the onion. Peel away the outer layer of skin. Slice the onion in half from the root end to the top. Slice each half of the onion in half. Slice each quarter of the onion in half. Slice each eighth onion in half.

Cutting an onion into cubes

Cut the onion in half alongside the root with a sharp knife then peel off the skin. Lay one half onion flat side down then make 2-3 horizontal cuts along the onion. Next, make vertical cuts downwards and hold the onion together as you chop. Finally, cut off the root end and separate the wedges.

Peel the onion

To start, cut off one end of the onion and peel it so that the edible layer is exposed. Cut the onion in half so that the uncut end from before is divided in two, then slice the onion in half again. Finally, cut the onion into thin slivers by slicing it length-wise. To cut the onion into cubes, simply take each sliver and chop it into small pieces.

Cut off the root end

The first step is to cut off the root end of the onion. Cut about 1/2 inch (1 cm) from the root end, and then cut the onion in half so that the root end is divided in two. You can now peel off the skin of the onion easily.

Cut off the stem

The first step to cutting an onion into cubes is to cut off the stem. Cut the onion in half alongside the root with a sharp knife then cut off the top of the onion, just above where the roots meet the edible layer of the onion. You can now peel off the skin of the onion.

With the onion peeled, cut it in half alongside the root so that each half has a flat side. Lay one of the onion halves on your cutting board, flat side down. Slice vertically evenly down the onion, making sure not to slice all the way through to the other side – you want your cuts to be about 1/2 an inch apart.

Now, make horizontal cuts across the onion, also about 1/2 an inch apart. Once you’ve made your horizontal cuts, you can start chopping vertically downwards to create cubes. Be sure to chop evenly so that all of your cubes are roughly the same size.

Slice the onion in half from the root end to the top

Start by cutting the onion in half from the root end to the top. Then, peel off the outer layer of the onion. Once the outer layer is removed, you will be able to see the edible layer beneath.

Next, cut off the root end of the onion. You can discard this part or save it to use in another dish. Then, cut off the top of the onion.

Finally, cut the onion into wedges by slicing it vertically from top to bottom. Now your onion is ready to be diced or used in any recipe!

Slice each half onion in half

Start by peeling off the onion’s skin. Cut off the onion’s root end and stem. Cut the onion in half from the root end to the top. Slice each half onion in half. Slice each quarter onion in half. Slice each eighth onion in half crosswise to form wedges.

Slice each quarter onion in half

Start by slicing off the top of the onion so you have a flat surface to work with. Peel off the outer layer of the onion. Cut the onion in half so that the root is still attached to one half. Cut each half of the onion in half. You should now have four quarters of an onion.

Now it’s time to slice each quarter onion in half. Again, make sure the root is still attached to one piece. You should now have eight pieces of onion.

At this point, you can either leave the onion as wedges or continue cutting into smaller pieces. If you want to cut the wedges into smaller pieces, simply cut each wedge in half.

Slice each eighth onion in half

Use a sharp knife to slice each eighth onion in half, then cut each half onion into thirds. For more even wedges, first cut the onion in half from the root end to the top. Then, cut each half onion in half from the root end. Finally, slice each quarter onion into wedges.
