Why Buy Bamboo Baby Clothes?
You probably don't like the idea of spending a little extra on a piece of clothing that you feel your baby will not need for long. However, you may be forgetting that you always get what you pay for. So let's see a few reasons why you should consider this material even though it is slightly priced higher than other fabrics.
a). Stretchy
Bamboo clothes are stretchy; do you know what that means? It means that it will grow with your son or daughter; as your baby grows, so do the clothes. The rate at which they stretch makes them suitable for fast-growing kids who may need a frequent change of clothes. You will not even notice how big your child will have grown with them because you don't need to buy new garments every few weeks or months. Imagine how much you can save if you don't have to buy new outfits for them more often.
b). Super Soft
Your child's soft and sensitive skin will love the softness of bamboo. Be in underwear, vest, dress, blanket, or towels. It is soft and less likely to cause irritations, making it very suitable for young ones. It is also ideal for a baby with eczema due to its softness.
c). Breathable and Absorbent
Bamboo fibers are porous, making the material breathable. This feature allows your child's skin to breathe freely. Babies tend to sweat a lot, and you can solve this problem by letting them wear garments made with breathable fabrics. It keeps the baby cool and dry at night, and during the day, the baby can play or sleep comfortably even when it is hot. They are also the perfect weight, so you can be sure your little guy or girl is comfortable.
The material also absorbs sweat and evaporates it, ensuring your baby is cool and dry even when playing on a hot summer afternoon or sleeping at night or in the morning. Its absorbent properties are three times better than most fabrics. In addition, their nature makes them not only suitable for use throughout the year and not just one season.
d). Hypoallergenic
The softness of the bamboo fabric makes it very unlikely to cause skin irritations or allergic reactions to your baby's skin. Because babies have delicate and smooth skins, it is safer to use hypoallergenic fabrics on them, as they are suitable for their skin and overall health.
e). Environmentally Friendly
Bamboo is a renewable source of fabric; therefore, using it does not harm the planet. It simply does not deplete the earth's natural resources. Moreover, pathogens do not easily infect them, neither are they easily attacked by parasites. And that means that they don't need to be sprayed with fungicides and pesticides, which may pollute the environment.
f). Hygienic
Every parent wants their baby to be as hygienic as possible. If you're wondering the best way to do so, try bamboo baby clothes. They are resistant to mold, odor, mildew, and bacteria even after washing them severally. They are the best to use on a toddler as they can be messy with food and while playing, which may lead to stains and odor on other fabrics.
Types of Bamboo Fabric
a). Rayon
Rayon is formed when a natural raw material goes through a chemical process, and a cellulose fiber is formed, rayon, which produces the textile fabric.
b). Lyocell
It is a form of rayon; it contains cellular fiber made from dissolving pulp using dry jet wet spinning, making it more absorbent.
c). Bamboo blend with Cotton
Mixing bamboo fabric with cotton to make the material slightly stronger.
d). Linen Fiber
Linen is the most sustainable bamboo variant. However, it loses softness and wrinkles quickly, especially after a wash.

How Can I tell that Bamboo Baby Clothing is Safe?
Bamboo fibers undergo some processing during production, and during the production process, many chemicals can be added to the fabric, making it unsafe for use on children. Therefore, before you purchase these articles of clothing for your kids, you should consider the following to ensure that the fabric is safe.
a). Label should be marked, 'bamboo lyocell.'
Bamboo linen and lyocell are genuine and eco-friendly fabrics. However, it is not easy to find clothing made with bamboo linens since the production of this fabric is quite labor-intensive.
Lyocell is a bamboo fabric made by soaking bamboo in organic compounds of an amine oxide and not toxic chemicals. Unfortunately, as much as lyocell is the only eco-friendly variant, it is not yet used on kids' clothes. So this label can only be found in other clothes, other than kids'.
b). Standard 100 by Oeko Tex
Standard 100 by Oeko Tex is an independent testing and certification system for toxic substances in products and the chemicals utilized in manufacturing that may or may not remain on the fabric after production.
Bamboo Vs. Organic Cotton
If you wonder which fabric is safer to use on your baby's young and delicate skin, keep reading. Here, we shall discuss how the two fabrics differ and which one is preferable to use on your baby's skin.
What is Organic Cotton?
Organic cotton is grown using low-impact materials, making them eco-friendly. Like bamboo, organic cotton production systems replenish soil fertility, build biologically diverse agriculture, and minimize persistent pesticides and fertilizers. In addition, organic cotton is grown without using toxic pesticides and fertilizers.
Also, third-party organizations verify that organic cotton producers use only methods of production allowed in the organic production. They do this by prohibiting the use of genetically engineered seeds for organic production.
Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS)
GOTS is the green standard by which organic cotton textiles are produced. GOTS certified organic cotton is safe for delicate and sensitive babies, as they go through inspection before being released into the market.
Comparison of Bamboo and Organic Cotton
a). GOTS certified organic cotton is used to produce many products, including kid's clothes. The certification ensures that the fabric is safe. On the other hand, bamboo is not certified organic. However, it is breathable and absorbent and also biodegradable.
b). Both fabrics are soft, durable, and eco-friendly, making them highly ideal for babies. On the other hand, bamboo is distinctly delicate, more breathable, and silky.
How is Bamboo Made into Fabric?
There are two methods used to create fabric from bamboo; chemical and mechanical.
a). Chemicals
Bamboo can be made into rayon. However, this process involves cooking it in strong solvents like sodium hydroxide, which also gets bleached. These chemicals may cause health problems, so this method is less preferred.
b). Mechanically
This method involves the use of machines to crush the bamboo stems. Natural dissolving enzymes are then used to create a big mushy pile. The intact fibers are combed out of the pile then spun into yarn.
Other fabrics made using this method are hemp, flax, and linen. Another type of fabric created in the same process is bamboo linen. Since this does not involve harsh chemicals, it is a safe method and preferred over the chemical method.
