Sizing

Trying to figure out what size is XL in bras? You’re not alone. Many women have trouble finding their size, especially when it comes to bras. The good news is that there are a few ways to figure it out. In this article, we’ll show you a few different methods to help you find your size.

How to measure

To Measure your band size:
Using a soft measuring tape, measure around your rib cage, just under your bust. The tape should be level and snug, but not too tight. Round to the nearest whole number. If the number is even, add four inches. If it’s odd, add five. This is your band size.

To Measure your cup size:
Wear a well-fitting bra (non-padded). Relax your arms at your sides and breathe out normally. Using a soft measuring tape, measure around the fullest part of your bust, making sure the tape is level from front to back. Subtract your band size from this number to determine the difference, and refer to the chart below for your cup size.

UK

In the United Kingdom, XL is equivalent to a 36″ – 38″ chest.

US

Most US brands size their bras with lettered tiers, like Small (S), Medium (M), and Large (L). Within each tier, there may be a range of band and/or cup sizes to choose from. The US brands we carry use the following sizing:

Small: 30AA-32DD
Medium: 32DDD-36D
Large: 36DD-40D
X-Large: 40DDD-44C

Brands

There are a variety of brands that label their XL size as different things. For example, some brands may consider an XL to be a size 16 while others may consider it to be a size 18. However, some brands are more consistent with their sizing. For example, most brands that use a size XL for bras generally use a 42 inch band size.

UK

There is no standard size for XL in bras, as sizes vary between brands. However, most brands use a similar sizing system, so an XL in one brand should be approximately the same as an XL in another brand. UK sizes for bras typically start at 30DD and go up to 40G.

US

In the US, XL is typically equivalent to a 40DD or 42D, although there is some variation between brands. If you’re in between sizes, it’s usually best to err on the side of caution and go up a size.

Extra large bras (XL) have a band size range of 38-44 and a cup size range of C-H. This size is typically for women who have a full bust.
