Sizing for 3T

3T generally fits children who are 36-39 inches tall and weigh 33-36 pounds. 3T is the third size in most brands’ size chart, after 2T and before 4T. While some brands may run a little larger or smaller than others, 3T usually fits kids who are in the upper percentile for height and weight. If your child is on the taller or heavier side, you may want to consider sizing up to 4T.

Age

From baby to big kid, we know just how quickly they grow. That’s why our clothes are designed to offer a great fit at every stage, whether your child is 9 months or 9 years old.

Age is just one factor in finding the right size for your child – height and weight are also important. Our size chart reflects average measurements for children of a specific age. But keep in mind that every child is unique, so these should be used only as a general guide. If you’re unsure about what size to buy, we’re happy to help – just give us a call or visit one of our stores.

Height

The average height for a 3T is between 38 and 42 inches.

Weight

3T generally refers to kids that are around the 50th percentile for weight. 3T kids clothes are great for chunky babies or kids who are a little longer and thinner.

3T is not an age, it is a size, so your child could be 3 years old and still wear 3T, or your child could be 4 years old and wear 3T. It all depends on the size and weight of your child.

If you are unsure whether your child should be in 3T or not, the best way to figure it out is to weigh and measure your child and then compare those numbers to a size chart.

3T measurements

3T is a size for kids clothing that generally corresponds to sizes 4-5T. The “T” in 3T stands for toddler. The average 3T measurements for a child are 33-34 inches in height and 28-30 pounds in weight.

Head

3T refers to a size in clothing for children that is between four and five years old. The “T” stands for “Toddler.” The size is generally considered to be for children who are between 39 and 42 inches tall and weigh between 29 and 32 pounds.

Chest

To measure your chest, start at the base of your neck and measure around the fullest part of your chest, just under your arms and around your shoulder blades. Be sure to keep the tape level and parallel to the floor.

Waist

The measurement around your natural waistline, usually 1-2 inches above your belly button. This is the narrowest part of your torso.

Hips

To find your hip size, measure around the fullest part of your lower body, about 20cm/8″ below your natural waistline.

Inseam

3T measurements can be a little confusing because the size designations are not standardized across brands. Inseam is one measurement you’ll need to take into account when purchasing 3T clothing. This is the length from the inner leg seam to the bottom of the ankle. The average inseam length for 3T jeans is 15 inches, but it’s best to try them on your child before making a purchase to ensure they fit properly.
