Measuring Your Belt Size

To find out your belt size, take a flexible measuring tape and wrap it around your waist where you will wear the belt. Make sure to wrap the tape around you in a parallel line with the floor. Note the number where the tape meets the end and you have your waist measurement.

Use a flexible measuring tape

Position the measuring tape at the middle of your hip, wrapping it around your waist to find your natural waistline. This is usually about 2” above your belly button.
Make sure the measuring tape is level all the way around and doesn’t dip in the back.
Relax and breathe out before taking the measurement.

To find your belt size, add 2” to this measurement if you are a man, or 1” if you are a woman. This is because belts are typically worn on the outside of your clothing, and you need to account for the thickness of the material. For example, if your natural waistline measures 32”, you will need a belt that is 34” long for men, or 33” long for women.

If you are between sizes, it is usually best to round up to the next size. For example, if your natural waistline measures 33”, you will need a belt that is 34” long for men, or 33” long for women.

Measure around your natural waist

The best way to measure your belt size is to measure around your natural waist. This is the narrowest part of your torso, and is typically located somewhere between your navel and your lower ribcage. To get an accurate measurement, make sure to keep the measuring tape level and fairly snug around your waist. Once you have your measurement, simply consult a belt size chart to find your corresponding belt size.

Determining Your Belt Size

There are a few different ways that you can determine your belt size. If you have a belt that you currently wear, you can measure the length of that belt from the buckle to the hole that you use the most. If you do not have a belt, you can measure your waist size. To do this, measure around your waist where you would like your belt to sit. Once you have your measurement, you can reference a belt size chart to determine your belt size.

Convert your measurement to inches

To get your belt size, take a flexible measuring tape and thread it through the belt loops of your pants. Make sure the tape is pulled taut, but not stretched, then take your measurement in inches.

If you don’t have a flexible measuring tape, you can also use a string or a ribbon. Measure it against a ruler afterwards to get your size in inches. Another method is to measure your existing belt from the tip of the buckle to the hole that you use most often. Again, measure in inches and you will have your belt size.

Once you have your measurements, refer to the size chart below to determine which belt size corresponds with your measurement. If you are between two sizes, it is usually best to go with the larger size. Keep in mind that belts usually have 5 holes spaced 1 inch apart, so there is some adjustability built into each belt.

Size Chart:
-Belt Size——Measured Length (in inches)
-XS————–28-30
-S—————-32-34
-M—————-36-38
-L—————-40-42
-XL—————44-46

Find your belt size on a size chart

To find your belt size, use a flexible tape measure and measure around your waist where you normally wear your belt. If you’re unsure where to place the measuring tape, find the top of your hip bone and measure around that area. Make sure the measuring tape is level all the way around. Once you have your measurement, refer to a size chart to find your corresponding belt size.

If you don’t have a flexible tape measure, you can also use a string or cord. Wrap it around your waist and mark the string or cord where it overlaps to form a complete circle. Unwrap the string or cord from your waist and lay it flat on a table. Measure the length of the string or cord from the mark to the end using a ruler or yardstick. Again, refer to a size chart to find your corresponding belt size.

When in doubt between two belt sizes, always choose the larger size for a better fit.

Tips for Choosing the Right Belt Size

Wearing a belt is a great way to accessorize your outfit and pull it all together. But what happens when you don’t know your belt size? How do you make sure you’re choosing the right belt size? In this article, we’ll give you some tips for choosing the right belt size. After reading this, you’ll be able to find the perfect belt for your jeans, pants, or shorts.

Consider your pant size

When you’re shopping for a dress belt, the most important factor to consider is your pant size. Your belt size is typically 2” larger than your pant size, so if you wear a pant size 34”, you would need a belt size 36”.

##If you’re in between sizes, it’s better to err on the side of too large rather than too small. You can always punch an extra hole in the leather to make it smaller, but if your belt is too small, you won’t be able to wear it at all.

##Once you have your belt size, you can narrow down your choices by considering the width of the belt and the style of the buckle.

##As a general rule, wider belts work better with casual clothing while narrower belts are more appropriate for dressier looks. If you plan on wearing your belt with jeans, a wider width (1.5” to 2.5”) will give you a more relaxed look. For khakis or dress pants, a narrower width (1” to 1.5”) is usually best.

Choose a belt that is proportional to your waist size

When choosing a belt, it is important to choose one that is proportional to your waist size. A belt that is too large or too small can be uncomfortable and may not provide the support you need.

If you are unsure of your belt size, you can measure your waist with a tape measure. To do this, wrap the tape measure around your waist and note the measurement. If you are between two sizes, it is best to choose the larger size.
