What is 1.6 as a Fraction?

In mathematics, a fraction is a number that represents a part of a whole. The whole is equal to 1 when you have 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, and so on. So, what is 1.6 as a fraction?

Introduction

In mathematics, a fraction is a number that represents a part of a whole. It is written with a numerator (a top number) over a denominator (a bottom number). For example, if we wanted to write half as a fraction, we could write it like this:

1/2

The number above the line is called the numerator and the number below the line is called the denominator. The line itself is called the fraction bar. In the fraction 1/2, the numerator is 1 and the denominator is 2.

What is 1.6 as a Fraction?

1.6 can be written as a fraction in a number of ways. The easiest way to write 1 .6 as a fraction is to divide it by 10 to get 16/10, which can be further simplified to 8/5.

Decimal to Fraction

1.6 as a fraction is 8/5.

Fraction to Decimal

To convert 1.6 to a fraction you have to Write 1.6 as 16/10 .Assuming you already now what a fraction and decimal are If not let me explain A decimal is a number just like 1,2,3 etc. but with a decimal point like so 1.1,2.54 etc ,a fraction is when you have a number on top of another like 3/4 , 5/9 etc which means 3 out of 4 or 5 out of 9 parts of something ,but enough about that now how do we turn decimals into fractions? It’s really quite easy all we do is put the decimal number over 10 and reduce if possible

so in this case 16/10 can be reduced by cancelling out the 0 on the bottom and the 1 on the top which will give us 8/5 . Now some people will say that 8/5 is already in it’s lowest terms as it can’t be reduced any further but this is not always the case sometimes fractions can be further simplified for example:
4/8 can be simplified to 1/2 as 4 goes into 8 twice leaving no remainder so we cancel out the 4 on top with the 8 on the bottom giving us 2/4 cancel out the 2 on top with the 4 on bottom giving us 1/2 . Now what if there was a remainder for example:
11/13 goes into 11 once leaving a remainder of 2 so our fraction would look like this
1_(2/13) which means that our fraction is 1 and 2 thirteen parts or in other words 14 parts out of 13 parts so 14/13 reduces to 1+1/13 giving us our final answer

Conclusion

1.6 as a fraction is 8/5.
