Laptop Size

When you’re looking for a new laptop, one of the first things you’ll need to consider is size. After all, you need to make sure the laptop will comfortably fit into your lifestyle. But what exactly do the different sizes mean?

Inches

The size of a laptop is usually described by the width of its screen (measured in inches, as shown in the image below), but the full measurements of a laptop include the bezel, or frame, around the screen. The size of a laptop screen is typically between 11 and 17 inches. The most popular screen sizes are 13.3 inches, 14 inches, 15.6 inches, and 17.3 inches.

Laptops with screens larger than 17 inches are considered desktop replacements, and are less portable than smaller laptops.

In addition to the width of the screen, you should also consider the depth (front-to-back measurement) and thickness (top-to-bottom measurement) of the laptop when choosing a size. For example, a 16-inch laptop with a depth of 10 inches and a thickness of 1 inch is much more portable than a 16-inch laptop with a depth of 12 inches and a thickness of 2 inches.

Centimeters

laptop size is measured in centimeters (cm). The width is the measurement from the left side to the right, and the height is from the top to the bottom. The depth is the distance from front to back.

Laptop Dimensions

When it comes to laptops, one size does not fit all. Different laptop sizes exist to cater to different needs. Some people need a small and portable laptop for travel, while others need a large laptop for gaming or working on multiple monitors. So, what is the right laptop size for you?

Width

The width of a laptop is the distance from the left to the right side of the keyboard when it is open and flat. It does not include the width of any attached accessories such as a power cord. Laptops are typically measured in inches, with common widths ranging from 11 to 18 inches.

Height

The first step to finding your perfect laptop is to know your needs. One of the main considerations when shopping for a new laptop is size. Laptops are measured in inches by their width, depth, and height. The width and depth of a laptop are pretty self-explanatory — they’re the side-to-side and front-to-back dimensions of the device, respectively. height, on the other hand, is a little more complicated.

height is the measurement of a laptops screen when it is closed. It is important to note that this measurement does not include the laptops base which houses the keyboard and trackpad. The vast majority of laptops have a screen height that is less than four inches, with many models falling in the two to three-inch range.

If you are looking for a laptop with a large screen, you will want to pay attention to the height measurement. If portability is your main concern, you will want to choose a model with a smaller height.

Depth

The Depth of a Laptop is how thick it is from front to back. When looking at your laptop from the side, the depth is the measurement of how thick it is. Depending on the model, laptops can range in thickness from about .5 inches (1.27 cm) to over 1.5 inches (3.81 cm). The average depth of a laptop is about 1 inch (2.54 cm).

Laptop Weight

Your laptop’s weight is one of the most important factors to consider when you’re shopping for a new one. Not only does it affect how easy your laptop is to carry around, but it can also affect how comfortable it is to use for extended periods of time. Heavier laptops tend to be more durable, but they can also be more difficult to transport.

Pounds

laptops usually weigh between 2 and 8 pounds. The average laptop weight is about 4 pounds.

Kilograms

Kilograms (kg) is a unit of measurement for weight. The mass of an object is usually measured in grams (g), but the weight is measured in newtons (N) instead. For example, an apple might weigh 500 grams, but it takes a force of about 10 newtons to accelerate it one meter per second squared.
